This pro bono video project was born out of a simple desire to shine a light on the everyday people who quietly make West St. Paul such a vibrant place to live. By sitting down with residents like Connye LaCombe, Mason Young, and Jim Probst, the goal was to capture the authentic, grounded stories of individuals dedicating their time to lifting up those around them.
In our current cultural climate, it is incredibly easy to feel disconnected or overwhelmed by the noise of the broader world. Yet, listening to a neighbor talk about volunteering to tutor students or advocating for local initiatives is a powerful reminder that real, tangible change happens at the grassroots level. Civic engagement doesn’t always have to be loud or make headlines; often, it looks like a quiet conversation over coffee or a steadfast commitment to a neighborhood committee. These stories reinforce that community is something we actively build together, day by day, through small acts of service and mutual respect.
Ultimately, this project is a natural extension of the work I do every day at Community Blueprint. Our core mission is to document stories that create positive change, using video to help purpose-driven organizations share their impact. Whether we are producing a fundraising film for a large non-profit or pointing a camera at a local volunteer just down the street, the underlying belief remains the same: storytelling has the unique power to change behaviors, inspire action, and connect us to our shared humanity.
