The Mission: Ending Weekend Hunger
For many children, school is a reliable source of nutrition. However, as the video highlights, over 300,000 children in Minnesota face “empty kitchen cupboards” once the school bell rings on Friday. Since 2010, Every Meal has focused specifically on this “weekend gap,” ensuring that vulnerable children have the food they need to learn, grow, and simply be kids.
A Legacy of Growth
The video charts an impressive trajectory of impact:
2010: Started with just 29 children.
2019: Scaled to 25,000 weekend meals across 27 schools.
Today: Every Meal is now the largest weekend meal program in the state, serving 50,000 meals every week to 12,000 children in over 400 schools.
The Challenge: Space to Grow
Despite providing nearly 15 million meals since its inception, Every Meal reached a critical plateau. Their leased facility was at maximum capacity, with no room for the volunteers or inventory required to reach the next 15,000 or 20,000 children in need.
To solve this, they launched the “Setting the Table” campaign—a strategic effort to purchase and renovate their entire facility. Thanks to leadership gifts, they have already secured the building, which will decrease long-term costs and increase operational efficiency.
